In lieu of general membership meetings as we’ve done in past years, we are giving members the opportunity to showcase their business or host a meet and greet. We will be meeting in September, October and November and usually try to meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, however, we can schedule for another date if more convenient for you. CANSTRUCT YOUR HABITAT

Midland Empire HBA will be participating in CANstruct Your Habitat benefiting St. Joseph Habitat for Humanity and Second Harvest Community Food Bank which will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2010. We will need at least 20 people to help deliver canned food, build the structure, and clean up. If you want to participate, please contact Belinda as soon as possible. Deadline to turn in our registration information is October 1, with all team members listed.

Here’s a brief run down on the event itself. On November 6, registration will be from 11-11:30. Cans must be at our designated area by 11:45 a.m. A free meal will be provided to each team member beginning at noon. Build out will begin at 12:30 p.m. There will be 4 one-hour shifts with 4 people working on the structure per shift. Voting takes place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Disassembling and clean up will begin at 7:00 pm.

Once we have our design completed, we will be calling on members to hold food a drive to help us get the cans needed to build our structure. The complete rules and regulations are attached with this e-mail.

GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Midland Empire HBA Fall Golf Tournament is set for Friday, October 8, at Fairview Golf Course in St. Joseph. Cost is $65 per player entry fee which includes green fees, cart and lunch. Lunch will be served at 11:30. Shot gun start at 12:30 p.m. Deadline for entry is Friday, October 1. Details and entry form are included with this newsletter.

NAHB INTERNATIONAL BUILDERS’ SHOW

NAHB International Builders’ Show is scheduled for January 12-15, 2011 in Orlando, Florida. The last chance for your get your FREE 4-day exhibit pass is Tuesday, August 31 – this is only two weeks away! Tuesday, August 31 is also the last day that all spouse registrations are free and that the member Full Registration (including access to the education sessions and exhibit floor) is $195. ALL fees go up on September 1!
